Purchasing & Warehousing Assistant

Location: South London
Salary: £29,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

The Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Purchasing & Warehousing Assistant to support our Purchasing Department and warehouse operations. This is a highly varied role that combines procurement, stock control, order fulfilment, and logistics coordination, with approximately 50% office based and 50% warehouse based responsibilities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day procurement of products, components, and consumables, while also managing supply-only and web customer orders.

This position would suit someone with experience in purchasing, warehousing, or supply chain operations who is keen to develop their skills within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Raise and process daily purchase orders to ensure products, components, and consumables are available to support production and installation schedules.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records and cost pricing within the company's ERP system.
  • Support supplier relationship management and assist with pricing negotiations.
  • Monitor supplier performance and communicate any supply issues to relevant departments.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels across multiple warehouse locations to ensure adequate availability.
  • Receive and book goods into stock, checking deliveries for accuracy and reporting any discrepancies or damage.
  • Process stock transfers between warehouse locations using the ERP system.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies where required.
  • Participate in stock taking and cycle count activities.

Order Processing & Fulfilment

  • Process supply-only and web customer orders.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare products for domestic and international shipment.
  • Prepare pallets and crates for road freight and sea freight transportation.
  • Create and issue work orders for assembly items.
  • Manage customer returns, warranty replacements, and damaged goods.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Coordinate deliveries with approved haulage and courier providers.
  • Liaise with customers regarding delivery schedules and lead times.
  • Ensure shipments are accurately documented and dispatched on time.

Skills & ExperienceEssential

  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in purchasing, warehousing, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
  • Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
  • Experience using power tools.
  • Previous experience using NetSuite.
