A unique place, a unique project and a unique opportunity

The Cotswold Canals Connected Partnership aims is restore the Stroudwater Canal in time for the 250th Anniversary in 2029. The project started in 2008 and we have recently secured additional funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and project partners for the final phase of works: the Missing Mile project and reconnection at Saul Junction.

The Design & Technical Coordinator will coordinate design and technical information and provide practical technical support to design and construction activities.

Key Responsibilities will include

  • Co-ordinate design inputs across disciplines to support with the restoration of the Stroudwater Canal and the construction of a new canal, locks and mooring basin in the Missing Mile.
  • Ensure design information is managed and issued in a timely and controlled manner to meet procurement and construction requirements.
  • Prepare and develop CAD drawings to support design development, tender information and construction activities.
  • Maintain drawing registers, technical records and appropriate version control.
  • Undertake limited site survey work as required to support design development, verification of information and construction activities.
  • Provide technical support to site teams, including interpretation of design information and resolution of co-ordination or buildability issues.
  • Support procurement activities through preparation and co-ordination of technical information and support the review of design-related contractor submissions.
  • Undertake delegated project management duties from time to time as required, under the direction of the Chief Engineer, including planning, co-ordination, progress monitoring and liaison with contractors and stakeholders.

Grade and Salary

This role will be employed by Stroud District Council as the Accountable Body to the CCC Project. This an STR5 Grade role with the appropriate additional market supplement.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months

Pay: Up to £55,000.00 per year
