This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering fire safety improvement programmes across our housing portfolio, managing projects from commissioning through to completion while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.

What you'll be doing

As our Fire Safety Project Officer, you'll support the delivery of fire safety compliance programmes and help reduce risk for customers, colleagues and third parties.

You'll:

  • Manage fire safety projects and work packages across our property portfolio.
  • Oversee the commissioning, testing and inspection of active fire safety systems, ensuring all certification and documentation is accurately recorded.
  • Monitor contractor performance, quality, programme delivery and financial management across fire safety contracts.
  • Maintain accurate fire safety compliance records and ensure data systems are up to date.
  • Track performance against agreed KPIs and support the production of compliance reports and management information.
  • Work collaboratively with compliance, repairs and investment teams to deliver risk reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development of fire safety and compliance strategies.
  • Promote safe working practices and help deliver fire safety training and awareness across the organisation.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations and health and safety requirements.

What we're looking for

You will have a strong track record of delivering property or compliance-related investment programmes, ideally within a housing environment, and a passion for ensuring customers remain safe in their homes.

Essential skills and experience

  • Experience managing fire safety projects or investment programmes and delivering high levels of performance.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex data to support decision-making.
  • Knowledge of building construction, building standards, planning requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Understanding of fire safety compliance systems and housing management data.
  • Experience managing contractors, administering contracts and monitoring project budgets.
  • Working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and site health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with both internal and external partners.

Essential qualifications

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a building or construction-related discipline.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent health and safety qualification.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
  • IFE Fire Risk Assessment Training.
  • Professional membership or qualification such as MCIOB, MRICS, MICE or equivalent.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
