Full job description

TamizhConnect is a non-commercial platform helping the Tamil and Indian diaspora reconnect with their ancestral villages in India. We publish widely in Tamil and English on family history, genealogy and heritage.

The role
We're seeking a meticulous, native-fluent Tamil proofreader to review and polish the Tamil versions of our blog posts and website content — so they read naturally and accurately, never machine-translated.

What you'll do

  • Proofread and correct Tamil articles and web pages for grammar, spelling, punctuation and Tamil typography.
  • Ensure the Tamil is natural, fluent and consistent in tone — not literal or stilted.
  • Check meaning against the English source; flag mistranslations or awkward phrasing.
  • Keep a consistent glossary of genealogy/heritage terms.
  • Deliver within agreed turnarounds.

You'll need

  • Native or near-native written Tamil, with a strong eye for detail.
  • Solid English (to verify source meaning).
  • Proven proofreading, editing or translation experience.
  • Comfort with Tamil Unicode/typography and remote work.

Nice to have

  • Interest in genealogy, history, or the Tamil diaspora.
  • Experience with web/CMS or Markdown/MDX content.
  • Familiarity with regional Tamil variants (e.g., Sri Lanka, diaspora usage).

Pay: £120.00-£180.00 per day
