Shape A Life have partnered with a dedicated and nurturing primary SEN school in Liverpool (L9), which is seeking compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistants to join their team. This specialist setting provides education for pupils aged 5–11 with a range of complex learning needs, physical disabilities, and behavioural needs.

This is a rewarding but challenging role, ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping every child reach their full potential. You'll work alongside experienced staff to provide a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment where pupils can thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils aged 5–11 with complex learning needs, physical disabilities, and behavioural needs
• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning to meet individual needs
• Assist with personal care where required, ensuring pupils' dignity and wellbeing are always maintained
• Help create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver high-quality support
• Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and participation throughout the school day

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• A caring, patient, and resilient approach
• A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to remain calm and positive in a challenging environment
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable but not essential:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities, complex learning needs, or challenging behaviour
• An interest in pursuing a career in education, SEND, healthcare, or therapy

What You Should Know

Weekly pay of £497 per week - term time only.

This is a specialist SEN setting supporting children with a wide range of additional needs. The role includes personal care responsibilities and requires someone who is comfortable supporting pupils with both their educational and personal development. While the school can present challenges due to the complex needs of its pupils, it is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on children's lives.
