Project Iris is a specialist suicide prevention programme, designed to support young people’s mental health through early intervention, therapeutic support, and structured conversations. The project provides a safe and inclusive environment to promote wellbeing, resilience, and positive outcomes for young people.

Purpose

• Lead and manage the delivery and organisation of suicide prevent programme Project Iris, utilising experience and expertise in this area.
• Create an environment and relationships with young people of all backgrounds and ages, so they can feel comfortable expressing themselves.
• Create a structure with flexibility to respond to the changing needs of participants. Promote wellbeing through practical, timely and appropriate interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the delivery and organisation of Project Iris.
• Liaise with green therapy and equine therapy delivery staff to ensure best practice and activities in line with programme aims and objectives
• Liaise with other stakeholders and referring agencies
• Actively promote awareness of Project Iris within the community
• Oversee the project mental health support worker role – supporting their delivery and participation with the project.
• Liaise closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure any safeguarding risk is appropriately managed, making timely and appropriate referrals to external organisations / agencies.
• Undertake initial assessments of young people, when necessary, as part of the project delivery, in line with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Guidelines.
• Contribute to evaluation systems (to measure progress) in line with BACP Guidelines

Duties

• Monitor, record and assess project delivery and outcomes (in line with project ethics and GDPR requirements)
• Adhere to best practice guidance covering areas such as records management, data protection legislation and BACP ethical code of practice.
• Maintain professional standards through Supervision and CPD.
• Attend team meetings and case reviews when required.
• Attend and contribute to all safeguarding and child protection training and be aware of Inclusion Education’s procedures at all times.

Qualifications:

Essential

• A recognised formal counselling qualification (Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Foundation Degree / BA Hons in Counselling or Counselling & Psychotherapy, Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Counselling / psychology)
• Accreditation to counselling children and young people (CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People)
• Accreditation by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or equivalent

Desirable

• Experience and qualification of working within suicide prevention

Abilities:

Essential

• Ability to listen to and communicate effectively young people
• Ability to show empathy and work with participants in an appropriate manner and be mindful of individual needs.
• Ability to work as part of a team

Skills:

Essential

• Ability to record case notes accurately and clearly with a good standard of writing and IT skills.

Knowledge:

Essential

• Awareness of factors impacting on and issues facing vulnerable children and young people and families (e.g. disadvantage, poverty, disability, neurodivernce)
• Knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Experience:

Essential

• Experience of direct work with young people aged 11 – 16

Desirable

• Experience and qualification of working within suicide prevention

Job Details:

Contract: Term-time Only

Working Hours: 22 hours per week, comprising Monday - Wednesday, 9:30am - 3:30pm (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break), plus 5 hours per week for administrative duties, which can be completed remotely from home.

Salary: £26,400 / £45,000 FTE

Pay: £26,400.00 per year
