Overview - live in Assistant Manager
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Pub Manager to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and a comprehensive understanding of food and beverage operations, able to uphold & develop standards in a premium gastro pub setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily pub activities, ensure excellent customer service, and support the overall management of the establishment. Prior experience in restaurant, kitchen, or hotel environments, along with supervisory experience, is highly desirable. The successful applicant will play a key role in maintaining high standards of food safety, team management, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Pub Manager in overseeing daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Supervise staff including servers, baristas, kitchen personnel, and cleaning staff to maintain high standards of hospitality and service.
  • Creating business plans
  • Cocktail & drinks costings
  • Support in organising staff schedules, training programmes, and team management initiatives.
  • Planning, marketing events, activities
  • Booking private events, weddings, birthdays etc
  • Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory levels for food and beverages.
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat business.
  • Support promotional activities and special events within the pub environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in restaurant or hospitality settings, including roles involving food preparation, cooking, serving or barista duties.
  • Supervising experience with demonstrated team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and food production processes.
  • Previous experience in a pub, hotel or similar hospitality environment is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
  • Friendly demeanour with outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and operational challenges. This position offers an engaging environment for those passionate about hospitality management and eager to contribute to a lively pub setting while developing their leadership capabilities within a supportive team.
