Café and Campus Hospitality Manager

Location: Cowley, Oxford, Oxfordshire
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: £28,000 > £32,000

Are you a dynamic hospitality leader with a passion for exceptional service, high standards, and creating memorable guest experiences? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Café and Campus Hospitality Manager to lead our team, elevate our current café and help open our new VIP café on the science campus, while steering the whole campus hospitality operation to success.

About the Role

As our Café and Campus Hospitality Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our busy café, busy hospitality offer and help in opening our new VIP café on the science park. You’ll maintain impeccable standards, inspire and develop a happy and high-performing team, and ensure every guest enjoys a welcoming and quality experience. You’ll also drive sales, maximise profitability, and ensure we meet all legal, safety, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Standards

  • Maintain consistently high standards across food, beverage, service, cleanliness, and presentation.
  • Ensure the campus delivers quality experiences across both café and hospitality operations.
  • Implement and monitor procedures to ensure smooth, efficient daily operation.

Customer Service Leadership

  • Create a warm, friendly environment where guests feel valued and welcomed.
  • Handle guest feedback professionally and proactively to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, Support, motivate, and guide a happy, engaged, and high-performing team.
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff to excel in their roles.
  • Foster a positive culture centred on teamwork, respect, and growth.

Compliance, Health & Safety

  • Ensure all operations comply with legal requirements, including food hygiene, licensing, employment law, and health & safety.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold safe working practices throughout the venue.

Sales, Marketing & Profitability

  • Drive sales growth in both the café trade and hospitality bookings.
  • Manage budgets, control costs, and ensure strong financial performance.
  • Work alongside the leadership and marketing teams to promote events, seasonal offerings, and community engagement.

About You

  • Proven experience in hospitality management (café, restaurant, event, or similar).
  • Passionate about high standards, quality service, and delivering excellent customer experiences.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build a motivated and happy team.
  • Knowledge of hospitality compliance, food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Commercially aware, with experience in budgeting, sales growth, and profit delivery.
  • Confident, organised, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • And of course can make a great cup of coffee!
