Catering Assistant / Cook – Monday to Friday, Daytime Hours

Location: Loughborough
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am–4:00pm
Contract: Permanent

Love working with food but fed up with evenings, weekends and unsociable hours?

We're recruiting for a Catering Assistant / Cook to join a friendly and welcoming workplace catering team in Loughborough.

This is a lovely opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing and cooking food but would prefer a better work-life balance. You'll be working in a pleasant, supportive environment with regular daytime hours, no evenings, no weekends and Christmas off!

You don't need to be a qualified chef. We're simply looking for someone who has some previous experience working with food, enjoys cooking and is happy to get stuck in with all aspects of a busy kitchen.

Whether you're currently working in a café, pub, restaurant, school kitchen or another catering environment, we'd love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

  • Preparing and cooking breakfasts, lunches, hot meals and snacks
  • Helping with the preparation of fresh ingredients and daily menus
  • Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods
  • Serving food and assisting customers when required
  • Making sure food is prepared and presented to a good standard
  • Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and organised
  • Following food hygiene, safety and allergen procedures
  • Helping out wherever needed to keep the catering operation running smoothly

What are we looking for?

We're not looking for a qualified chef or someone with years of experience, but some previous hands-on cooking or food preparation experience would be ideal.

You'll need to be:

  • Comfortable preparing and cooking simple meals
  • Happy working as part of a small, friendly team
  • Reliable, hardworking and willing to get involved
  • Someone who takes pride in preparing good-quality food
  • Able to work in a busy kitchen environment
  • Friendly, approachable and happy to help with food service
  • Aware of basic food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures

A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate would be useful, but it's not essential.
