Full job description

IMMEDIATE START

Job title: Bar Manager Company: The Elizabethan, Telford Job type: Full-time, temporary -permanent Pay: £13.50-14 per hour Hours: Approx. 54 hours per week Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 3:00pm – 12:00am. Wednesdays off.

About the role

The Elizabethan is a well-established community pub in Telford, and we're looking for a hands-on Bar Manager to take charge of the day-to-day running of the bar.

This is a role for someone who leads from the front — behind the bar on the busy nights, not just in the back office. You'll have real autonomy to run the venue, build the team and shape what we offer.

What you'll be doing

  • Running bar operations across six trading days, opening and closing the premises
  • Leading, rota-ing and training the bar team
  • Cash handling, tills, banking and end-of-shift reconciliation
  • Ordering stock, managing deliveries, cellar work and line cleaning
  • Controlling wastage, stock levels and GP margins
  • Maintaining licensing compliance, Challenge 25, health & safety and food hygiene standards
  • Keeping the bar, cellar and customer areas clean and well presented
  • Handling customer service and resolving issues on the floor
  • Supporting events, sports fixtures and busy weekend trade

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience managing or supervising a bar, pub or similar venue
  • Confident cellar management and line-cleaning skills
  • Strong understanding of licensing law and responsible retailing
  • Comfortable with stock control, ordering and basic P&L awareness
  • A calm, credible presence with both customers and staff
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
  • Personal Licence holder desirable — we'll support the right candidate to obtain one

What we offer

  • A fixed rota with Wednesdays off, so you know your hours in advance
  • Overtime paid at your hourly rate
  • 28 days' holiday including bank holidays (pro rata)

Pay: £13.50-£14.00 per hour
