Full job description

Do you love working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy being part of a fun and energetic team? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you?

We're looking for enthusiastic and friendly Hotel Restaurant & Bar Assistants to join our team within the hotels at Alton Towers Resort. Whether you're welcoming guests for breakfast, serving drinks in the evening, or helping create memorable dining experiences, you'll play a key role in ensuring every guest has an amazing stay.

No two days are the same, and you'll be part of a team that takes pride in delivering exceptional service while having fun along the way.

About the Role

This is a guest-facing role within our busy hotel restaurants and bars, where you'll have the opportunity to interact with guests from all over the country. You'll work in a lively environment that can be fast-paced and rewarding, especially during our busiest periods.

As this role is based within our hotels, shifts are available across seven days a week and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Our current hourly pay rates are £8.03 (ages 16-17), £10.85 (ages 18-20), and £12.71 (ages 21+).

This is a seasonal position running until November 2026

What you'll be doing

  • Providing a warm and friendly welcome to guests
  • Preparing and setting up restaurant and bar areas for service
  • Serving food and beverages efficiently while delivering excellent customer service
  • Confidently supporting guests with menu choices and dietary requirements
  • Supporting smooth and efficient table service and turnover
  • Processing payments accurately using till systems
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
  • Monitoring stock levels and replenishing supplies as required
  • Working closely with your teammates to ensure a seamless guest experience
  • Following all company procedures, food safety standards, and licensing regulations

What's in it for you?

  • On-site discounts across Merlin theme parks and attractions
  • Development opportunities on-site and across the wider business, with over 400 locations across the UK
  • Generous accrued annual leave
  • Benefits app, providing access to hundreds of discounts, online GP access, mental health support, and our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Flexible working hours
  • Free uniform
  • Working with a great team that enjoys fantastic social activities outside of work
  • Free staff parking
  • The chance to work at one of the UK's most exciting and iconic resort destinations

Here are some desirable qualities for this role...

  • A positive, enthusiastic and approachable attitude
  • A passion for delivering outstanding guest service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy environment
  • A strong team player who enjoys working with others
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays

Previous restaurant, bar, hospitality, or customer service experience would be beneficial, but it isn't essential. If you have the right attitude and willingness to learn, we'll provide all the training and support you need to succeed.
