Job Overview

Part Time, Evenings and Weekends

We are looking for a friendly, confident and reliable Front of House team member to join our growing team at The Green Man, a beautifully renovated country pub and restaurant in the heart of Dorset.

This is a part time position, primarily covering evenings and weekends, making it ideal for someone looking for work alongside their studies or other commitments.

The role includes welcoming guests, taking food and drink orders, serving tables, preparing drinks, handling payments and helping us deliver the warm and attentive service for which we want to be known.

Previous hospitality experience is essential, although training will be provided. A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a genuine desire to look after our customers are most important.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly, take their orders accurately, and serve food and beverages with enthusiasm.
  • Assist in food preparation tasks when needed, supporting kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, ensuring a welcoming environment at all times.
  • Handle cash register transactions efficiently, including processing payments and giving correct change.
  • Upsell menu items and specials to enhance guest experience and increase sales opportunities.
  • Follow food safety protocols diligently to uphold hygiene standards and prevent contamination.
  • Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant or food service experience is preferred; enthusiasm and a positive attitude are essential.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling.
  • Experience with food preparation or kitchen operations is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to interact confidently with guests and team members.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality, teamwork, and creating enjoyable guest experiences.
