Post No. POSN004274 - Public Protection Technical Officer

The successful applicant will provide administrative and customer support primarily to Licensing Officers, assisting with the processing of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licensing applications and conducting a range of non-contentious licensing appointments.

The role will also support the wider Public Protection Service, including the granting, issuing and administration of licences across a variety of regulatory functions. Applicants will be expected to provide advice and guidance to customers, maintain accurate records, process applications, and help ensure that licensing services are delivered efficiently and professionally.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised individual with strong communication and administrative skills to contribute to a busy and diverse regulatory service that supports businesses, residents and visitors across the city.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing taxi and private hire driver, vehicle and operator licence applications.
  • Conducting routine licensing appointments and checks.
  • Providing advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders and members of the public.
  • Issuing licences, permits and associated documentation.
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases.
  • Supporting Licensing Officers and the wider Public Protection Team in delivering regulatory services.
  • Handling customer enquiries by telephone, email and in person.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide a high standard of customer service within a busy office environment.
