Full job description

About the role

BETAR (https://www.bromleyemergency.com/) delivers five examination-preparation programmes for doctors taking Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) examinations. These include in-person teaching, webinars and online self-study resources.

We are seeking a highly organised Educational Content and Programme Coordinator to manage the development and maintenance of our learning materials. These include self-assessment questions, webinars, videos and materials for practical clinical examinations known as Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).

The postholder will coordinate clinical content contributors and senior reviewers, maintain an efficient production pipeline and ensure that approved materials progress promptly to website publication. The role also involves identifying gaps, outdated content and priorities for new development.

A proportion of the postholder’s time will be spent supporting the practical organisation and delivery of our courses and other educational events.

Key responsibilities

  • Contributor coordination: Agree priorities and deadlines with subject-matter contributors, encourage regular submissions, and follow up incomplete or overdue work.
  • Review and feedback: Check materials for completeness, clarity and compliance with BETAR’s standards. Arrange senior clinical review where necessary and ensure that feedback is acted upon.
  • Curriculum coverage: Map resources against the relevant curricula, identify gaps or duplication, and commission new material according to agreed priorities.
  • Content updating: Monitor curriculum and clinical-guidance changes, learner feedback and information about examination developments. Coordinate the review, revision or retirement of affected materials.
  • Publishing workflow: Track materials from initial commission through review and revision to final website publication.
  • Systems and AI: Use spreadsheets, databases and AI-assisted tools to organise content, monitor progress and support initial review, while checking outputs and referring clinical decisions appropriately.
  • Course and event support: Help coordinate the practical delivery of in-person courses, webinars and other educational events.

Essential requirements

  • Experience in project coordination, editorial coordination, content production, educational administration or publishing.
  • Experience coordinating work from several contributors and following it through to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to give constructive feedback and address delays professionally.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confident use of spreadsheets, databases or project-tracking systems.
  • High attention to detail and an ability to identify omissions, inconsistencies and potentially outdated material.
  • A proactive, encouraging and persistent approach.
  • Appropriate and critical use of AI-assisted tools, including verification of outputs.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience in education, e-learning, publishing or professional training.
  • Experience developing or reviewing assessment questions.
  • Familiarity with webinars, online learning, videos or practical examination materials.
  • Experience supporting the organisation or delivery of courses, conferences or other events.
