Teaching Assistant

Job Overview

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support children’s learning and participation through teaching activities, tutoring and mentoring. You will work alongside colleagues to adapt support to individual needs, including in special education settings, and help create an encouraging environment where children can build confidence and develop their skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Seeking someone with a CACHE, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 qualification or BA in Early Years Education from Uk university or overseas and has previous experience working with children would be desirable.

Starting Salary £27,000 - £28,000pa + 13 weeks paid holiday and excellent further training and career progression opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom teaching by preparing and guiding learning activities suited to children’s needs and abilities.
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group tutoring and mentoring, adapting explanations and encouragement to help each child engage.
  • Communicate observations and progress clearly with colleagues, and contribute to consistent, thoughtful support.
  • Use creative writing activities where appropriate to encourage expression and participation.
  • Your impact: attentive, tailored support helps children take part in learning and gives colleagues useful insight into their progress.
