Full job description
Matrix are a significant customer of the Outsystems platform, in fact you’ll find our logo on the Outsystems website home page. We’ve been busy re-platforming our core external web facing products over the last few years and already have a number of Outsystems developers, but we’re looking to expand this team further due to the volume of activity underway. We have two core products, one platform that supports recruitment for several large UK employers, and another that delivers employee and volunteer screening services, including right to work in the UK, DBS checks and more. We use Outsystems 11 but are increasingly looking to use ODC in conjunction with our O11 estate, particularly to take advantage of its agentic capabilities.
Our benefits
We are currently working in a hybrid fashion with the ability to work remotely and in our office premises, however, due to the nature of your duties, you may be required to attend the Company's premises for meetings, as and when necessary.
- Standard Pension – 3% Employers, 5% Employee
- 25 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays)
- Birthday day off
- 2 Volunteer days a year (to volunteer in the local community)
- Employee Health Benefits (Westfield Health)
- Online discounts platform for major retailers (Westfield Rewards)
- Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme (Octopus EV) and Cycle 2 Work Scheme
- Salary up to £55,000 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining applications using OutSystems, including:
- Creating and refining Screens, Client & Server Actions, Aggregates, and logic flows
- Writing and optimising simple SQL queries as part of data-driven development
- Debugging, testing, and enhancing application features with minimal supervision
- Independently manage assigned development work across full feature lifecycles
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Adhere strictly to internal coding standards, best practices, and documentation protocols
- Participate in code reviews, with the ability to explain and defend implementation decisions
- Work within Agile frameworks, supporting iterative delivery and continuous improvement
- Maintain awareness of project goals, timelines, dependencies, and impact on adjacent workstreams
Essential Skills
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in software development, preferably with OutSystems and/or low-code platforms
- Solid understanding of:
- Full application lifecycle within a structured delivery environment
- Agile project delivery and card-based task tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
- Best practices for development, testing, and deployment
Experience with:
- Writing and optimizing SQL queries
- Debugging complex workflows and ensuring application reliability
- Strong documentation habits and ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
- Proactive mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership

- Basic knowledge of API integration (REST/SOAP) within OutSystems
- Exposure to Microsoft 365, Power Automate, or other Microsoft productivity tools + Azure App Suite
- Comfort with peer review processes and collaborative technical discussions
- Ability to anticipate impacts and dependencies in multi-stream development environments
