Full job description

About the Role

Pipe Dream Furniture is looking for a meticulous, fair minded professional whose role is to protect our standards and help our team improve.

You will personally inspect every order before it leaves the workshop to a very high standard, catch defects early, log them clearly, and then give constructive, timely feedback to the people who made the item (whether it’s a cutter, welder, painter, or packer). Your goal is zero surprises for customers and continuous reduction in repeat issues such as poor finishes, missing/wrong parts, damage, dirt marks, and dimension errors.

This is a brand new, dedicated position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough final quality inspections on all completed orders (furniture, shelves, handrails, tables, custom pieces, etc.) before packing or dispatch.
  • Check against the order specification for correct materials, dimensions, finish, hardware, cleanliness, and overall presentation.
  • Clearly log every issue using our simple system (Poor Quality, Missing Items, Wrong Items, Damaged, Dirty Furniture, Other).
  • Give immediate, constructive, and respectful feedback to the individual staff member or team responsible
  • Identify trends and recurring problems and flag them to the owner/production manager with suggested solutions.
  • Help coach and train staff so the same mistakes happen less often over time.
  • Maintain accurate daily/weekly records so we can track improvement.
  • An extensive training period to learn our furniture catalogue will be provided.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extremely high personal standard for quality and attention to detail (you notice the small things others miss).
  • Ability to give honest but supportive feedback without causing conflict.
  • Calm, organised, and consistent you will be the “eyes” of the business.
  • Previous experience in quality control, inspection, or supervisory roles in manufacturing, furniture, joinery, metalwork, or a similar workshop is very helpful but not essential if you have the right attitude.
  • Good communication skills and a desire to help the team get better.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained.

Hours: Full-time 42.5 hours per week - Start/Finish time negotiable

Pay: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
