Salary – £15.72 per hour

We are part of the Express Engineering Group who employ more than 300 employees across the two companies, Express Engineering (Gateshead) and Express Engineering (Fabrications) (trading as QA Weld Tech).

Key Responsibilities as Manual Inspector include:

  • Conducting visual and dimensional inspections of manufactured components.
  • Using manual measuring equipment including micrometres, verniers, plug gauges, screw plugs, and ring gauges.
  • Calibrating and maintaining manual measuring equipment.
  • Reviewing and verifying internal inspection and quality reports.
  • Working to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality procedures.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and quality standards across the business.
  • Working collaboratively with production and quality teams to resolve quality issues.

To be successful in the role of Manual Inspector at Express Engineering, you will:

  • Have experience of conducting visual and dimensional inspection activities using manual measuring equipment, such as micrometres, verniers, plug gauges, screw plugs, ring gauges.
  • Be proficient in the calibration of manual measuring equipment.
  • Have a strong experience of working to customer specifications.
  • Be confident in reviewing and verifying internal reports.
  • Have strong mathematical skills and the ability to understand engineering drawings.
  • Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages include excel and word.
  • Have a can-do attitude and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Be flexible in your approach - willing to work overtime when required to suit customer requirements.
  • Be willing to pass on your knowledge and train others.
