SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE TEST ANALYST

Total Package: £46,000 + a location allowance of £5,000 (London) £46,000 (East Kilbride)

Contract: Full time, permanent

Location: London or East Kilbride

Hours: Full time. You’ll be required to work in line with our policies on hybrid working (minimum 60% in the office)

Your role with us

The Digital, Technology and Security Directorate (DTaS) is responsible for delivering our ambition to make the FCDO the world’s most technologically integrated and innovative foreign ministry. This means harnessing digital, data, technology, IT security and information management to deliver our diplomatic, development and consular aims, all while keeping our people and information safe, especially from hostile actors.

Main purpose of the job

When you join us, you’ll play a key role in the Directorate’s Digital Products and Services Department, helping to deliver high quality, user-focused digital products that support the FCDO’s global operations. Making an important contribution to the design, development and continuous improvement of the digital services we use, whilst operating as a key member of a number of multi-disciplinary teams, working on activities that ensure systems meet user needs, technical requirements and organisational standards. This will include leading the test analysis and risk assessment of products, services, processes and changes, identifying quality risks, and evaluating the business impact of testing outcomes.

Defining and managing test requirements, overseeing the design, build, execution and maintenance of test suites, and ensuring appropriate test techniques are applied across both functional and non-functional areas, you’ll focus on refining the work we do, and leverage structured feedback loops. We’ll also expect you to establish and manage defect management processes, provide leadership and high-quality coaching to our teams, and communicate the strategies, progress and outcomes of testing to a range of senior and cross-functional stakeholders.

Who we’re looking for

To be a success in this role you should possess the skills to design and execute tests that ensure digital services meet all our requirements, and cover functional and non-functional quality to deliver reliable, accessible, secure and fit-for-purpose outcomes that align with our needs. Comfortable working in an agile environment while contributing to test planning, risk analysis and effort estimation, your excellent interpersonal skills will make you a highly effective collaborator with developers, product managers and stakeholders.

It goes without saying that you’ll have a strong understanding of the value of automation and the ability to explain the effective use of coded and non-coded solutions to technical and non-technical audiences. We’ll also expect you to leverage non-functional and low/no-code automation, AI-driven tools and modern testing platforms to enhance test design, creation, coverage and productivity, alongside traditional scripted automation approaches.
