NDT Level 3 Inspector / Controller – Relocate to Australia

Location: Albury, New South Wales, Australia
International relocation opportunity for UK-based NDT professionals

Are you an experienced NDT Level 3 professional ready for a major career and lifestyle move?

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded advanced manufacturing business located in Albury, New South Wales. This is an outstanding opportunity for a suitably qualified UK-based candidate to relocate to Australia and take responsibility for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of a well-established Non-Destructive Testing function.

Working within a technically advanced manufacturing environment, you will support production, customer requirements and internationally recognised third-party accreditations, including NADCAP, NATA, AS9100 and AS13100.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, with responsibility for quality matters through the Quality Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery and technical control of NDT activities at the Albury facility.

This is a hands-on senior technical position combining Level 3 oversight, quality systems, audit preparation, technical procedure development and Level 2 inspection duties.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and prioritise NDT activities in line with production schedules, dispatch requirements and customer commitments.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain customer and third-party NDT accreditations.
  • Manage the equipment, facilities and systems used within the NDT and inspection areas.
  • Develop, write, review and maintain NDT procedures, work instructions and operating documentation.
  • Prepare, investigate and close non-conformance reports.
  • Lead investigations into non-compliance and technical quality issues.
  • Prepare for and lead quality and accreditation audits.
  • Produce accurate inspection certificates and supporting documentation.
  • Perform Level 2 inspection duties across UT, PT, VT and MT methods.
  • Manage external NDT service providers and equipment suppliers.
  • Prepare business cases for new NDT and inspection equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement, capital projects and broader inspection activities.

About you

To be considered, you will ideally have:

  • Volumetric and surface NDT Level 3 certification to ISO 9712 or an equivalent recognised standard.
  • NAS 410 Ultrasonic Testing Level 3 certification.
  • Immersion tank testing qualifications and experience.
  • A minimum of five years’ NDT testing experience.
  • Experience within metals, forging, aerospace, defence or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial NDT equipment, systems and processes.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical standards and customer specifications.
  • Experience with quality systems and accreditation standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP, NATA and ISO 17025.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the preparation of procedures, reports and technical documentation.
  • A thorough, detail-focused and methodical approach.
  • Strong investigation, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • The confidence to lead audits, influence stakeholders and drive technical improvements.

A tertiary qualification in metallurgy, materials science, engineering or a related discipline would be highly regarded.

Why relocate to Albury?

  • More affordable housing than Australia’s major capital cities.
  • A strong sense of community.
  • Easy access to the Murray River, Lake Hume and surrounding wine regions.
  • Excellent cycling, walking, fishing, boating and outdoor recreation.
