Quality Engineer

Stroud
Excellent Salary + Benefits
Permanent

BMR Solutions are working in partnership with a specialist engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a hands-on Quality Engineer for an exciting permanent opportunity in Stroud.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly skilled manufacturing environment producing complex electro-mechanical products. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving quality improvements across the business, influencing manufacturing standards, implementing new processes, and working closely with production and management teams to deliver engineering excellence.

This is not a desk-based quality role. You will be embedded within production, working directly with technicians and manufacturing teams across electronics, electrical, mechanical, wood shop, and finishing operations.

The Role

As Quality Engineer, you will take ownership of quality and process improvement activities across the manufacturing operation.

You will review current processes, identify opportunities for improvement, write and implement new procedures, support technicians through change implementation, and deliver quality training across the business.

You’ll work closely with management and production teams to drive continuous improvement, improve yield, reduce non-conformance, and maintain exceptionally high manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and improve existing manufacturing and quality processes
  • Write and implement SOPs, inspection procedures, and quality documentation
  • Select and work alongside technicians to support process improvements and implementation activities
  • Deliver quality training and guidance to production teams
  • Work collaboratively with the management team to drive operational improvements
  • Monitor and audit production quality across multiple departments
  • Carry out inspections on electro-mechanical assemblies, PCBs, wiring, cabinetry, and finished products
  • Manage goods inwards inspection and supplier quality concerns
  • Investigate manufacturing defects and implement corrective actions using 8D, 5 Whys, and CAPA methodologies
  • Support supplier quality improvement activities and RTV processes

Areas Covered

You will support quality activities across:

  • Goods Inwards
  • Inspection
  • Electronics
  • Electrical Assembly
  • Mechanical Assembly
  • Wood Shop
  • Finishing

Knowledge of anodising processes would be advantageous, but is by no means essential.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience within a Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or Technical Inspection role
  • Strong manufacturing background, ideally within electro-mechanical or technical assembly environments
  • Experience improving manufacturing processes and implementing change
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience using manual metrology equipment including calipers and micrometers
  • Strong understanding of root-cause analysis methodologies including 8D and 5 Whys
  • Practical understanding of ISO 9001:2015
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised with a strong ability to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Hands-on approach with the confidence to work directly with production teams and technicians

Why Apply?

  • Excellent salary and benefits package
  • Technically varied and highly visible role
  • Opportunity to directly influence manufacturing quality and process improvement
  • Work within a skilled engineering and production environment
  • Stable and growing specialist manufacturer
  • Long-term career opportunity within a high-quality engineering business
