AGG Developments is a family-run construction company built on a reputation for quality workmanship, honesty, and exceptional customer service. As a growing business, we specialise in new builds, home extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments, renovations, and high-end bespoke residential projects across Merseyside and the Northwest.

The Role

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of construction projects from initial quotation through to final account. You will work closely with the Director, Site Managers and subcontractors to ensure projects remain profitable whilst delivering excellent value for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Cost Planning

  • Produce detailed estimates and quotations from drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out material take-offs and measure quantities.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities where required.
  • Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assist with tender submissions and pricing.

Commercial Management

  • Monitor project costs and budgets.
  • Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Track labour, plant and material costs.
  • Identify cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
  • Monitor project profitability.

Procurement

  • Procure subcontractors and materials.
  • Negotiate supplier and subcontractor rates.
  • Issue purchase orders.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts.

Site Support

  • Attend site meetings.
  • Measure completed works.
  • Liaise with Site Managers.
  • Monitor progress against programme.
  • Resolve commercial issues.

Administration

  • Maintain project cost records.
  • Update estimating software and spreadsheets.
  • Produce reports for Director.
  • Maintain supplier price databases.

Essential Skills

  • Min. 5 years previous Quantity Surveying experience within the UK construction industry.
  • Experience with residential extensions, refurbishments or housing projects.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods.
  • Ability to read architectural and structural drawings.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Degree or Certification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
  • Experience using estimating software.
  • MS Office Suite & CRM
