Casual Library Officer RTF2526-199

£13.21 per hour


We are seeking dependable and professional individuals to join our pool of casual staff to support our South Tyneside and Tyne Metropolitan college libraries on an as-needed basis.

These roles are primarily to provide cover for staff absences and holidays across both college sites. Please note that regular work cannot be guaranteed. The positions require flexibility, including the ability to work at short notice, and a willingness to travel between sites when required.

The successful candidates will enjoy working with a diverse range of people, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and have a strong interest in learning resources and supporting students.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering a professional, welcoming, and efficient service at the issue desk
  • Assisting students with basic IT queries, printing, and access to library resources
  • Shelving and maintaining library stock to a high standard
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the library

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are customer-focused, approachable, and professional in manner
  • Demonstrate confidence in using basic IT systems
  • Are reliable, flexible, and able to work evenings (until 8pm) and at short notice
  • Possess strong communication skills and work effectively as part of a team

Previous library experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
