Maintenance Plumber / Mechanical Engineer

Locations: MOD Stafford
Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 per annum (DOE)
Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Plumber / Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding team supporting MOD sites across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated engineer looking for long-term stability, a varied workload, and a professional working environment within secure facilities.

Job Overview

You will be responsible for the service, maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing and mechanical building service systems across our MOD sites. Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
• Reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and breakdown response
• Carrying out remedial works on plumbing and mechanical systems
• Installation and modification of pipework and mechanical components
• Supporting small mechanical projects and system upgrades
• Working collaboratively with the site team to ensure compliance and safe working practices

Systems You Will Work On

• Hot and cold water systems
• Commercial plumbing installations (mainly accommodation blocks)
• Mechanical pipework (steel, copper, plastic)
• Valves, pumps, expansion vessels, and plant room equipment
• Heating and mechanically heated water systems
• Associated building services and mechanical plant

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for a reliable and competent Plumber / Mechanical Engineer with experience in commercial or facilities environments. The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in plumbing and/or mechanical building services
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience working on commercial or industrial plumbing systems
• Ability to install, maintain, and repair mechanical pipework and plant
• Understanding of mechanical drawings and technical manuals
• High standards of Health & Safety awareness
• Full UK Driving Licence

Gas experience or qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
