Job Summary

As a Receptionist you will play a vital role as part of a busy team who are the face of the Practice. Together with your colleagues you support the medical team in caring for our patients. The role is varied as no two phone calls are the same and you will be responsible for making sure patients are dealt with in an efficient and friendly manner.

At Priory Medical Practice in Bedford, the doctors and nurses take pride in offering the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We run many clinics for chronic disease care and offer a wide variety of other medical services such as antenatal and postnatal care, joint injections, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups. We strive to provide high quality, readily accessible medical and preventative health care within a well organised, efficient, modern, friendly and caring environment.

Our practice is approved to train fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice.

You will be

  • Booking appointments for patients with the appropriate medical professional
  • Dealing with general enquiries from patients and visitors
  • Supporting colleagues to maintain an efficient and friendly atmosphere
  • Assisting with any other administration required

You are

  • A customer service professional with a kind and courteous manner.
  • You will have experience of working face to face and on the telephone with customers.
  • You have high levels of accuracy and understand the importance of getting information correct at all times.
  • You are friendly and understanding with patients and offer support where you can.
  • You will be used to a fast-paced environment with a varied task list and tight deadlines.
  • You understand the importance of confidentiality and work efficiently with your colleagues to get the job done.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel is preferred but not essential.
