Are you a dental or medical receptionist who thrives when it's busy?

A well-established NHS dental practice in Brighton, is looking for an experienced front desk receptionist to join their team.

With 6 surgeries running every day and a high volume of patients through the door, this is a fast-paced, full-on role. If you know what it's like to have the phones ringing, patients checking in, dentists asking questions, and lab work to track, all at the same time, and you take that in your stride, we want to hear from you.

What the role looks like day-to-day

  • Working as part of a 3-person front desk team in a busy NHS practice
  • Managing a constant flow of patient check-ins, check-outs, payments and rebookings
  • Handling a busy phone line, booking queries, cancellations, urgent requests
  • Coordinating lab work and keeping track of patient treatment progress
  • Supporting the clinical team to keep appointments running smoothly
  • Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy at all times

Appointments run every 10–15 minutes. The phone doesn't stop. You'll need to be sharp, organised, and calm under pressure, someone who sees a busy desk as just another Tuesday.

What they are looking for

  • Confident handling multiple tasks at once without losing accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills , clear, professional, and patient-facing
  • Familiarity with NHS systems and patient expectations
  • Reliable, punctual, and consistent, someone the team can count on

You'll fit right in if you:

  • Take pride in doing the job properly, not just getting through the day
  • Handle difficult or frustrated patients with empathy and calm
  • Know when to ask for help and when to just get on with it
  • Understand that in a clinical setting, the details really matter

What they offer

  • Competitive hourly rate up to £14.50, depending on experience
  • Full-time or part-time hours, we'll consider what works for the right person
  • A structured onboarding process with hands-on training
  • A supportive, close-knit team that values reliability and good people
  • Stability, this is a long-established practice with a settled team

The process

They run a structured interview process followed by a short trial session, so you can see the role in action before committing. They think that's fair, and it means you'll know exactly what you're walking into.
