Commencing salary £29,647 plus £1,092 lunch allowance per annum (to be paid pro-rata)

The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of the union’s aims by providing efficient reception services for members and the general public, in particular answering telephone calls and dealing with visitors, presenting a professional first-point of contact on behalf of the Union.

They will also organise taxis and couriers on behalf of Union staff as necessary, process the Enquiries inbox ensuring relevant emails are forwarded to the appropriate team/s and monitoring CCTV in the building and alert the Facilities team where breaches of security occur, thereby protecting the safety of occupants.

We are seeking applicants who are proactive and able to use their initiative and work without close supervision. The successful applicant will also need to be able to manage difficult and sensitive conversations in a calm, confident and effective manner and have clear and professional telephone manners.

Prospective applicants are advised that weekend working is a feature of the team responsibilities and the role holder is expected to participate in a rota of occasional weekend work. Also, this role will require the postholder to undertake professional development and training as necessary for the performance of the role. For example, this will include full qualification as a First Aider at Work, together with training on the switchboard/telephone system, fire alarm, CCTV/security systems etc.

In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including a non-superannuable luncheon allowance currently set at £1092, 33 days’ annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a final salary pension scheme. Salary and benefits are pro-rata for part-time applicants.
