Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Dental Practice Manager / Receptionist to oversee the daily operations and front-of-house management of our busy dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and organisational skills, excellent patient communication abilities, and experience in practice administration. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support a dynamic clinical team, deliver exceptional patient care, and ensure the smooth and efficient running of the practice. The Dental Practice Manager / Receptionist will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for patients while maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the reception and administrative team alongside clinical staff including dentists, dental nurses, and hygienists
  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure the practice runs efficiently and delivers excellent patient service
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling, patient enquiries, recalls, and diary management
  • Oversee financial administration including invoicing, payment processing, and expense monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards, GDPR regulations, health and safety policies, and infection control procedures
  • Recruit, train, and appraise staff performance to encourage professional development and high standards of service
  • Handle human resources responsibilities including staff rotas, absence management, conflict resolution, and adherence to employment legislation
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient satisfaction, retention, and practice growth
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Liaise with external suppliers, laboratories, and service providers to maintain smooth operational processes
  • Support front desk reception duties including welcoming patients, handling telephone calls, and responding to emails professionally
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering of dental and office supplies

Qualifications

  • Proven supervisory or management experience within a dental, healthcare, or clinical setting
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience in dental reception or dental practice management is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of dental software systems and appointment management processes
  • Understanding of CQC requirements, GDPR, and dental industry regulations
  • Experience in financial administration and practice operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work professionally under pressure while maintaining a patient-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • A positive, adaptable, and team-oriented attitude
