Full job description

Are you passionate about empowering people to build better futures? We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and dedicated Wellbeing and Employability Advisor to join our team in Exeter, Teignmouth and South Hams. This is a full-time, face-to-face role focused on supporting individuals who are long term unemployed, on the cusped of being employed, self-employed or facing challenges related to mental health and wellbeing.

You will work directly with people across Exeter, Teignmouth and South Hams, providing tailored person centred support to overcome barriers to employment, build resilience and increase confidence. You'll help individuals prepare for work, navigate self employment and improve their wellbeing through structure interventions and practical coaching. Such as support with job searching, preparing for interviews, building confidence, assessing training and securing work placements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualised employability support including: CV development (including the use of CV building software and online platforms), cover letter writing, Interview preparation and mock interviews, Job Search strategies using online job boards and digital tools.
  • Support individuals with digital employability tools: LinkedIn profiles, job sites and career platforms.
  • Assist self-employed individuals with: marketing & branding support, social media & content strategy and accessing small business support services.
  • Deliver one to one wellbeing sessions, focusing on confidence building, goal setting, emotional resilience, motivation and their mental health
  • Build strong partnerships with local employers, training providers, employment services, local councils and other support services to create opportunities for individuals and facilitate access to employment.
  • Keep up to date with current job market trend, recruitment practices and wellbeing interventions.
  • Act as an advocate for clients, ensuring their employment needs are understood and met in a supportive and respectful manner.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Proven experience delivering employability support, ideally within a community, health or wellbeing context.
  • Confident using CV software, digital platforms (i.e. Indeed, Reed, LinkedIn) and job search tools.
  • Previous experience supporting people with mental health conditions and long term unemployment.
  • A knowledge of support strategies for small business, self employed and agencies available to support.
  • Ability to work directly with individuals to support their mental health, wellbeing, and personal development.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with clients, build trust, and advocate on their behalf.
  • A commitment to supporting individuals with empathy and respect, ensuring their journey towards wellbeing is as smooth and empowering as possible.
  • A full clean driving licence and a suitable vehicle to commute around North Devon.

Desired:

  • Background in careers advice, occupational psychology or counselling.
  • Experience of Individual Placement Support services, with demonstrated knowledge of the IPS fidelity model,
  • Postgraduate qualifications in relevant fields (e.g., mental health, social work, psychology).
  • Previous experience working with external agencies such as Jobcentre Plus, IAPT Services, or local authorities.
  • Knowledge of wellbeing practices, resilience-building techniques, and mental health first aid.
