Company Overview

Geotechnical Engineering Ltd (GEL) is the UK’s largest independent ground investigation contractor, delivering specialist pre-construction services for over 60 years+. Due to increased workload, we are recruiting Assistant Drillers to join our expanding team.

Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to start a long-term career in ground investigation — no experience required, full training provided, with clear progression to Lead/Senior Driller roles.

Outdoors in all weathers in a skilled manual labouring role must have a willingness to learn and pride in their work.

Projects range from single-day jobs to multi-week schemes across highways, rail, substations, refineries and other major infrastructure sites.

Responsibilities

  • Travel throughout the UK, staying away as required Monday-Friday
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of drilling rigs and specialist equipment
  • Carry out routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
  • Assist with mobilisation of plant and equipment
  • Work closely with Site Engineers, Project Managers and team members to deliver projects on schedule
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance at all times

Qualifications

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full manual driving licence category B (C/C1 preferred)
  • Based within commuting distance of Gloucester - 1hr (all work starts/finishes at depot whilst not away from home)
  • Preferred experience in the industry, not essential

What we offer

  • Competitive salary with OTE £36,000–£38,000 (inclusive of overtime)
