Full job description

Central Alliance part of the RSK Group are looking for Assistant Drillers to join their operations team based in Wakefield, UK.

This role is primarily site based and will involve frequent nights away from home.

Working with various clients throughout the UK. Our projects range from a single day on site to weeks in the field and can involve working on railways, highways, reservoirs, factories, and refineries, to name a few.

We are looking for motivated, hardworking individuals with good communication skills. A full UK driving licence and a CSCS and/or PTS qualification is essential. We also welcome entry level candidates for this position.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Acting as an assistant driller primarily for rotary drilling although there may be a requirement to undertake window sampling and concrete coring from time to time.
  • Weekend working on railway sites will be required from time to time (generous rates paid - 24hrs for a single shift)
  • Adhere to best working practices and industry standards, training and guidance will be provided for both experienced and entry level staff.
  • Adhere to working instructions as specified internally from engineers, lead drillers and supervisors.
  • Provide paperwork, namely timesheets and equipment inspection sheets and on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate with internal parties.

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post holder will be expected to attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses. These may include but not limited to, CSCS, PTS, CCNSG and First Aid.
  • Maintenance of ground investigation plant, equipment and tools
  • Competent at assisting the lead driller with rotary and windowless sampling drilling operations.
  • Familiar with conventional coring systems (PWF, T6-116, T6-H, 412, SWF) although entry level candidates may be considered.

Personal Skills:

  • Conduct business in a professional manner at all times.
  • Flexible in approach to work - both with regard to working hours and working away from home.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets.
  • Ability to work in a team towards a mutual goal.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all clients and employees.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Willing to work overseas from time to time.
