Mental Health Recovery Support Worker
Job details
Full job description
What if your job could change someone's life?
Imagine helping someone take their first step towards independence. Supporting someone to leave the house after months of isolation. Helping someone discover that they can do more than they thought possible.
We're looking for people who want to make a real difference – someone compassionate, resilient and able to see the person beyond their mental health diagnosis.
If you have experience supporting people and the right values, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you'll be part of a team providing person-centred support across our supported living services in Norwich (NR2) and due to expansion of the service, we have 1 x full time role - fixed term contract to 31.03.27 covering the South Norfolk community and 1 x 22.5 hour (fixed term to cover maternity leave) and 1 x 37.5 permanent vacancy.
Your role will be varied. You'll work alongside people to understand what matters to them, identify their goals and support them to take the steps towards greater independence and wellbeing.
You'll:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with the people you support
- Provide practical and emotional support based around individual needs and goals
- Encourage confidence, independence, choice and control
- Support people to develop life skills and engage with their communities
- Work alongside individuals to create and review recovery plans, safety plans and risk assessments
- Help people recognise their strengths, achieve their goals and make positive changes
- Work closely with colleagues and other professionals to provide joined-up support
No two days will be the same and you'll have the opportunity to genuinely see the impact of your work.
Where you'll work
You'll work across our supported living service in Norwich (NR2) and out in the South Norfolk community.
Who are we looking for?

- Positive, resilient and able to remain calm when things are challenging
- Comfortable working independently while also being part of a team
- Organised, proactive and able to think creatively about solutions
- Passionate about helping people achieve their goals and live the lives they choose
You should already have experience in:
Mental health, social care, supported living, housing, homelessness, rehabilitation, substance misuse or community support.
If you're someone who enjoys helping others, solving problems, building relationships and seeing people make progress, this could be the role for you.
What you'll get from us
We want our people to feel supported, valued and able to develop.
You'll receive:
- £26,035 salary including Recruitment & Retention Allowance - pro rata for part time
- 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days with service
- Paid training and opportunities to develop your career
