Full job description
North Norfolk Community & Norwich (NR2)
Imagine helping someone take their first step towards independence. Supporting someone to leave the house after months of isolation. Helping someone discover that they can do more than they thought possible.
We're looking for people who want to make a real difference. People who are compassionate, resilient and able to see the person beyond their mental health diagnosis.
If you have experience within the mental health sector, supporting people in the community and/or supported living and share our values, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you'll support people living with severe and enduring mental health conditions to build confidence, develop life skills and achieve greater independence.
This is a dual role based at our supported living site at Bakery Court, Norwich NR2 and in the North Norfolk community. It is important to understand that you will be expected to work regularly from our supported living service at Bakery Court, Norwich (NR2).
Your role will be varied and rewarding. You'll work alongside people to understand what matters to them, identify their goals and support them to take meaningful steps towards recovery, independence and wellbeing.
You'll:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with the people you support.
- Provide practical and emotional support tailored to individual needs and aspirations.
- Encourage confidence, independence, choice and control.
- Support people to develop life skills and strengthen connections within their communities.
- Work collaboratively with individuals to develop and review recovery plans, safety plans and risk assessments.
- Help people recognise their strengths, achieve personal goals and overcome barriers.
- Work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to provide coordinated, person-centred support.
No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to see the genuine impact your support can have on someone's life.
Who Are We Looking For?
We're looking for someone who is:
- Compassionate, approachable and non-judgemental.
- A good listener who can build trusting relationships.
- Positive, resilient and able to remain calm when situations become challenging.
- Comfortable working independently while also being part of a supportive team.
- Organised, proactive and able to think creatively about solutions.
- Passionate about helping people achieve their goals and live the lives they choose.
You will need to have experience in one of the following:
- Mental Health Services
- Social care
- Supported living
- Housing
- Homelessness services
- Rehabilitation
- Substance misuse services
- Mental Health Community support
This role requires emotional resilience and adaptability. Recovery is not always a straight path and there may be times when people experience setbacks or periods of crisis. We're looking for someone who can remain compassionate, professional and hopeful during difficult situations, helping people focus on their strengths and next steps.
If you're someone who enjoys helping others, solving problems, building relationships and seeing people make progress, this could be the role for you.
