As a SEN Teaching Assistant here, you’ll be a crucial part of our dynamic team, bringing our engaging curriculum to life! You’ll work alongside passionate Teachers and SEN Tutors to support and inspire students, creating a safe, positive space for learning and growth.

Working Hours:

Enjoy a fantastic work-life balance with 35.5 hours per week—term time only!

  • Monday: 8:45 AM to 4:15 PM
  • Tuesday-Friday: 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM

This schedule is perfect for someone looking to make a real impact during the school year while still having ample time for rest, family, and personal pursuits.

Salary

£17,000 - £17,500 not pro rata like most schools – paid in twelve equal monthly amounts. This means your pay is comparatively higher than in most other schools!

Job summary

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with the class teacher, providing essential support to create a positive and dynamic learning environment. Flexibility is key, as your daily tasks will vary, allowing you to engage with students in diverse and meaningful ways.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Offering 1:1 and small group support
  • Ensuring student safety and well-being whilst maintaining rigorous Safeguarding protocols.
  • Assisting the teacher with lesson delivery, classroom management, preparing learning materials and supporting activities
  • Supporting hands-on activities through ASDAN like cooking and arts and crafts
  • Empowering students through programs that enhance academic and social achievements
  • Helping develop social, emotional and life skills
  • Working with technology and specialised equipment to facilitate lessons and enhance learning resources
  • Acting as a nurturing, encouraging influence for students during lessons
  • Monitoring the classroom to minimise distractions and disruptions.
  • Using therapeutic language (PACE) is used in the classroom and modelling this with/to students
  • Managing ASDAN and tracking folders
  • Escorting students to therapy sessions and collecting them from their taxis

Essential experience working:

  • As a Teaching Assistant or similar post
  • With children with SEN
  • With Safeguarding procedures
  • Of lone working in the community and schools

Preferred Experience:

  • Hold a current teaching assistant qualification or be willing to work towards one
  • Strong verbal and written commination skills
  • Previous familiarity with learning management systems and other educational software e.g. BROMCOM, EARWIG
