About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Music Specialist to join our team, supporting children and young people aged 5–16 through music and singing. This is a rewarding opportunity to use music as a tool for engagement, expression, and emotional development.

You will work with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and require a nurturing, consistent, and creative approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver engaging and inclusive music sessions tailored to individual needs

· Support students in developing confidence, self-expression, and emotional regulation through music and singing

· Adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of SEN and SEMH needs

· Work collaboratively with staff to support EHCP outcomes

· Foster a positive, calm, and structured learning environment

Person Specification

1. Essential:

· Demonstrable high-level proficiency in piano and/or guitar, evidenced through relevant qualifications, professional experience, or a proven track record of practical performance, with the ability to effectively lead and support music teaching and learning

· Experience working with children or young people (preferably in SEN or SEMH settings)

· Strong musical and vocal skills

· Understanding of trauma-informed approaches or willingness to learn

· Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach

2. Desirable:

· Degree in Music or A Level in Music and/or instrumental qualifications to at least Grade 7 standard

· Experience working in specialist SEN settings

· Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies
