About Us

We're a fast-growing pet food company selling directly to pet parents online. We grow through paid ads, email, and landing pages that convert. We're looking for a copywriter who cares more about results than clever wordplay.

About the Role

You'll write the long-form copy that drives our revenue: advertorials and video sales letters that turn cold traffic into customers. Everything else you write, from the ads in front of these pieces to the scripts around them, exists to serve those two formats.

We're an AI-native team. Research, briefs, first drafts and test variants all run through AI workflows we've built in-house. That means you won't spend your week staring at a blank page. You'll spend it on the part AI can't do: judging what will sell, finding the angle, making the copy sound like a real person, and deciding what ships. You'll work closely with our media buyers, designers and growth team, and you'll see the performance data on everything you write.

What You'll Do

The core of the job (most of your week):

- Write VSLs and Advertorial scripts from start to finish: hook, lead, story, mechanism, proof, offer, close.

- Direct AI drafts, then take them apart. Keep what works, rewrite what doesn't, and cut every line that sounds machine-made.

- Add visual direction to your scripts, review rough cuts, and flag where the picture fights the words.

- Stay in the loop with our video editors from script to final cut, so every VSL and video ad is visualized the way you wrote it.

Around the core:

- Mine customer language from reviews, surveys, support tickets and pet-parent communities, both by hand and with AI tools.

- Write the short ads that send cold traffic to your advertorials and VSLs: native ads, Meta captions, UGC-style scripts.

- Read the numbers on every piece and iterate on them. That means hook rate and hold rate for VSLs, click-through and conversion for advertorials. Write new leads on top of the bodies that already win.

What We're Looking For

- 2+ years writing long-form direct response. You need at least five advertorials or VSLs that ran on paid cold traffic, with results where you can share them.

- You already use AI every day in your copy process, for research, drafting, variants or editing, and you have opinions about what it's good and bad at.

- You can write one piece to a specific awareness stage, then rewrite it for a different one.

- You obsess over research. You'd rather read 200 reviews than guess.

- You take an edit without ego and turn revisions around fast.

- You're comfortable reading performance data and letting it overrule your taste.

- You're a pet owner, or you understand why people spend money on their animals.

Nice to Have

- Health, supplement or nutra DR experience.

- You've built your own AI copy workflows, agents.

- Formal DR training (RMBC or similar), or time spent under a senior copy chief.

- Experience with multi-step funnels

- A swipe file you actually use.
