Full job description

Home-based with national delivery | Full-time | Remote with occasional travel

We're growing our Project Controls Team and looking for an experienced Skills Coach who is passionate about supporting the next generation of Project Controls professionals.

At Learning Skills Partnership (LSP), we deliver the Project Controls Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship to apprentices working across a range of engineering, infrastructure and construction organisations. Our Tutors deliver the structured teaching programme, while our Skills Coaches provide the one-to-one coaching, workplace assessment and guidance that helps apprentices successfully complete their apprenticeship and achieve End Point Assessment (EPA).

If you're someone who enjoys coaching, mentoring and helping people build real professional competence—not just pass an assessment—this could be the perfect role for you.

The Role

As a Skills Coach, you'll manage a caseload of apprentices working towards the Project Controls Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Most coaching and assessment is delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams, supported by occasional workplace visits where required.

You will:

  • Provide high-quality coaching and assessment that supports apprentices throughout their apprenticeship journey.
  • Carry out assessment activities including professional discussions, observations, oral questioning and evidence reviews.
  • Support apprentices to gather evidence for their portfolios and showcase projects.
  • Prepare apprentices for Gateway and End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Conduct mock assessments and provide detailed developmental feedback.
  • Hold regular progress reviews with apprentices and employers to monitor progress and set meaningful targets.
  • Work closely with Tutors and employers to ensure apprentices remain engaged and on track.
  • Maintain accurate learner records using our e-portfolio systems.
  • Promote safeguarding, Prevent Duty, equality and inclusion throughout the learner journey.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Strong occupational competence and knowledge within Project Controls or a related discipline.
  • Experience coaching, assessing, mentoring or developing others.
  • Good understanding of apprenticeship standards and on-programme assessment, including preparation for End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Confident delivering coaching and assessment remotely using Microsoft Teams or similar digital platforms.
  • Ability to manage a caseload, monitor learner progress and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent Duty and inclusive practice.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering Functional Skills within apprenticeship programmes.
  • Knowledge of e-portfolio systems and digital learning platforms.
  • Understanding of DfE funding rules and apprenticeship compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Relevant occupational qualification in Project Controls or a related discipline (Level 3 or above).
  • Teaching or training qualification (AET, CET, DET or equivalent), or willingness to achieve.
  • Assessor qualification (CAVA, TAQA, A1 or equivalent), or willingness to achieve.

Why Join LSP?

You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative team that genuinely cares about learners, colleagues and employers.

We offer:

  • A flexible, home-based role with national reach.
  • The opportunity to focus on coaching, assessment and learner development rather than classroom teaching.
  • A culture where your ideas help shape how we deliver apprenticeships.
  • A values-driven organisation that prioritises wellbeing, inclusion and quality.
  • The opportunity to make a real difference by helping apprentices achieve professional success.

Important Information

  • This role involves regulated activity and requires an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • We are recruiting directly and do not work with recruitment agencies.
  • Ready to help shape the next generation of Project Controls professionals? We'd love to hear from you.

Pay: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Employee mentoring programme
  • Work from home
