Cannell Signs is an established signage company specialising in the installation, removal and maintenance of estate agency boards.

We are looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Sign Fitter to join our team covering Braintree and the surrounding areas.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, being on the road and having the independence of managing their own daily workload.

What you'll be doing

You'll be responsible for installing, removing and changing residential advertising boards for estate agents throughout Braintree and the surrounding areas.

Your typical working day will involve:

• Loading your vehicle with the day's work
• Travelling around Braintree and surrounding areas
• Erecting, removing and changing estate agency boards
• Working safely with ladders and hand/power tools where necessary
• Completing your daily workload efficiently and to a high standard
• Communicating with the office and management team throughout the day
• Representing Cannell Signs professionally when visiting properties and working within local communities

It's a hands-on, active role where you'll spend the majority of your day out on the road rather than sitting behind a desk.

Two ways to work with us

We're open to hearing from candidates who are looking for either a permanent employed position or a self-employed opportunity.

Option 1 – Permanent Employee

• Guaranteed starting salary of £26,500 per year
• Expected earnings of £27,000–£31,000 per year
• Company van provided
• Tools and equipment provided
• Van can be used for travelling to and from work
• Full training provided — up to 2 weeks
• Company pension
• Monday–Friday working
• Availability required for alternate Saturdays
• Additional Saturday work is paid on top of your normal salary

Option 2 – Self-Employed / "Man with a Van"

Already have your own van and looking for additional regular work?

We're also happy to hear from self-employed individuals with their own suitable van who are interested in working with Cannell Signs on a contractor basis.

This could be particularly suitable for someone who:

• Already operates as a man with a van
• Has their own van and driving licence
• Wants to add regular work to their existing business
• Is looking for a reliable source of additional work
• Is comfortable working independently
• Has experience using ladders and basic tools

Self-employed applicants with their own van are welcome to apply, even if you're not looking for a traditional full-time employed position.

What we're looking for

Previous sign-fitting experience isn't essential. We're more interested in finding someone who is reliable, hardworking and willing to learn.

You should be:

• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically capable of a hands-on role
• Comfortable working at height and using ladders
• Confident using basic hand and power tools
• Able to work independently
• Organised and able to manage a daily workload
• Professional and polite when representing Cannell Signs
• A good communicator
• Fluent in English
• A holder of a full UK driving licence

Experience with power tools is required, while previous experience driving a van, fitting signs or working in a similar practical role would be an advantage.

Don't have sign-fitting experience? No problem.

Full training of up to two weeks will be provided for the employed position.
