Full job description

Head of Retail Events Popup Event Retail

This role is responsible for leading Uggly & Co’s retail events across the UK & Ireland. It suits a hands-on, self-driven operator who can plan, organise, and deliver events from start to finish, while leading teams and continuously improving how things are done.

You’ll be heavily involved in the full process — from booking and planning, through to packing, travelling, setting up, and running events on the ground. Summer is the peak season, so expect regular travel and weekend work.

At its core, this role is about being a problem solver — someone who can adapt quickly, handle pressure, and keep things running smoothly no matter what comes your way.

Retail Planning & Event Booking

  • Book and coordinate retail events across the UK & Ireland
  • Manage event payments, confirmations, and pitch agreements
  • Plan staffing and build a reliable network of event retail staff
  • Keep POS, shelving, and display equipment organised and event-ready
  • Ensure all retail systems (tills, iPads, POS) are fully functional
  • Identify new opportunities (motocross, road racing, festivals, shopping centres, collaborations, retail spaces)
  • Review event performance and scale what works

Winter Focus (November – March)

The off-season shifts focus to indoor retail (e.g. Westfield locations) and preparing for the summer ahead.

This includes:

  • Developing new POS and retail materials
  • Securing and negotiating future events
  • Improving payment terms and reducing costs (travel, ferries, etc.)
  • Reviewing and optimising past event performance
  • Cleaning out Event Storage and structuring better for the following year
  • Supporting recruitment and planning for the upcoming season

Retail Growth & Partnerships

  • Drive sales through improved retail setup, presentation, and strategy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with event organisers and partners
  • Negotiate terms, pitches, and commercial agreements
  • Ensure all logistics, documentation, and planning are locked in well ahead of events
  • Manage transport logistics (trailers, vans) and coordinate additional staff where required

Inventory & Warehouse Coordination

  • Carry out detailed stock checks on key products
  • Ensure Shopify stock aligns with physical inventory
  • Work closely with warehouse teams on event prep, product launches, and bestsellers

Event Operations

Preparation

  • Pack trailers and vans using structured checklists
  • Ensure correct stock ratios and size breakdowns
  • Organise staff to support packing and setup

On the Ground

  • Travel to and set up at events
  • Support and manage retail operations during events
  • Lead and motivate staff to deliver strong sales and customer experience

Equipment & Systems

  • Maintain trailers, shelving, and POS equipment
  • Manage repairs and replacements where needed
  • Continuously improve event setups, logistics, and warehouse systems
  • Review events to refine stock levels, layouts, staffing, and performance

Staff Management

  • Coordinate schedules and communicate clearly with event staff
  • Recruit and retain a strong pool of retail staff
  • Lead by example at events and maintain high standards

Key Expectations

  • Self-motivated and highly organised
  • Comfortable taking full ownership of events end-to-end
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple events and moving parts
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on constant improvement
  • A strong, professional presence representing the brand at all times

Working Pattern

  • Average 40 hours per week
  • Regular weekend work during event season

Holiday

  • 25 days per year
  • Holidays must be approved in advance
  • No leave permitted during May–June (peak season)
  • Limited availability for holidays across summer months

Travel & Equipment

  • Company vehicles provided (transport doubles as accommodation at events)
  • Event trailers and full retail setup provided
  • Warehouse and POS equipment included
  • Laptop/iPad provided if required

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to tow trailers up to 3.5 tonnes

Salary

£35,000 – £45,000 (DOE)

The Reality of the Role

This is a fast-moving, hands-on role where no two events are the same. You’ll be dealing with everything from bad weather and staffing issues to stock challenges and tight timelines.

The expectation is simple: show up prepared, solve problems quickly, and deliver a smooth, professional retail experience every time — while being a great representative of the brand to staff, customers, and event organisers.
