Full job description

Billion Media is a digital marketing and media company with a strong presence in the legal sector, particularly in personal injury and medical negligence.

We specialise in SEO-led campaigns that combine data journalism, investigative research, and real-world reporting to create stories that gain coverage in national and regional press.

Our work has seen us build strong relationships with leading media outlets across the UK, and we are now expanding our London-based operations. The company is headquartered in Liverpool.

We’re looking for a driven, creative and commercially aware journalist to join our team and help us uncover, create and promote impactful stories across the capital.

The Role

This is a hybrid journalism and content creation role, blending traditional investigative reporting with digital marketing and SEO strategy.

You’ll be based in London, working across multiple office locations including:

  • Barnet
  • Hanover Square (central London)
  • Upper Woburn Place (central London)
  • Croydon
  • Camden

While primarily office-based, the role includes on-the-ground reporting, giving you the opportunity to cover real events as they unfold.

Key Responsibilities

Investigative Journalism & Research

  • Conduct in-depth research into topics related to personal injury and medical negligence
  • Submit and manage Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to uncover exclusive data
  • Analyse datasets to identify trends, patterns and newsworthy angles
  • Develop original story ideas aligned with our brands and campaigns

London-Based Reporting

  • Monitor live events and breaking news across London, particularly incidents relevant to our sector
  • Attend locations where appropriate (e.g. accident scenes) to gather insights and visual content
  • Capture high-quality photographs and on-the-ground context to support stories

Content Creation & PR

  • Write compelling press releases, reports and media pitches
  • Pitch stories to journalists, editors and publications
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts
  • Secure high-quality backlinks to our websites through coverage

Social Media & Digital Content

  • Collaborate with the social media team to:
  • Turn stories into engaging social content
  • Amplify coverage and reach
  • Support brand visibility across platforms
  • Assist with Google Maps content, including video uploads and local content optimisation

Campaign Development

  • Work closely with the wider team to brainstorm and execute PR campaigns
  • Take ownership of projects from idea through to publication and outreach
  • Contribute creative ideas to improve campaign performance and coverage

Why Join Us?

This role offers a rare combination of journalism, real-world reporting, and digital impact.

  • Create real news – not just content. Your work will appear in national and regional media
  • Be on the ground in London, covering real events and building stories from first-hand insight
  • Uncapped bonus scheme – earn a commission for every successful media placement and backlink to our brand websites
  • Creative freedom – pitch and develop your own investigations and campaigns related to our brands
  • Fast-paced, collaborative team with strong support and progression opportunities

Our journalists regularly earn £1,000+ per month in bonuses, with no upper limit.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £30,000 (depending on experience)
  • Unlimited bonus scheme (paid monthly)
  • 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with service
  • Access to multiple London office locations
  • Company pension
  • Strong career development opportunities

Must-Have Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience in journalism, PR, or investigative research
  • Experience working with FOI requests, data-led stories, or campaigns
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce press-ready content
  • Degree in journalism or NCTJ qualification (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to travel across London for reporting when required

Desirable Skills

  • Experience covering breaking news or live events
  • Photography skills (particularly for news or on-location reporting)
  • Ability to analyse data and extract compelling narratives
  • Understanding of SEO and digital PR (training can be provided)
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proactive mindset with the confidence to pitch original ideas

The Ideal Candidate

You’re someone who:

  • Thinks like a journalist but understands digital performance
  • Spots stories others miss
  • Is comfortable both behind a desk and out in the field
  • Wants to see your work published, shared and making an impact
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, idea-driven environment

Please send your CV and a cover letter addressed to Richie.
