We are seeking an ambitious, proactive and highly organised Senior Programme Manager to play a pivotal role in the delivery and development of our prestigious national research programme.
The Senior Programme Manager will provide operational leadership for the UK Hub for Predictive and AI-Enabled Human Disease Models, a major UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) strategic investment (£25M) established to accelerate the development, validation and adoption of predictive human disease models for biomedical research, drug discovery and experimental medicine.
The Hub brings together internationally leading expertise across the University of Cambridge, the Wellcome Sanger Institute, the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, NHS partners and a national network of academic, clinical and commercial collaborators to establish a nationally accessible capability for translational research.
The role requires a high degree of independent judgement and strategic decision-making to establish and maintain the governance, operational frameworks and collaborative partnerships necessary for delivery of an ambitious national research programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Senior programme leadership and governance
- Financial and resource management
- Team leadership and operational delivery
- Partnership development and stakeholder engagement
- Data, reporting and impact management
- Communications, events, engagement and knowledge exchange
- Research governance, ethics and compliance
- Strategic development and wider contribution
The successful candidate will hold a first degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience or qualifications. They will have significant experience of successfully managing complex and large-scale programmes, strategic initiatives, or multi-partner projects within a university, research institute, healthcare, industry or comparable environment. They will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced academic environment and able to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, funders, and external partners.
This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the direction and success of a programme aiming to transform outcomes for patients. The role offers significant scope to shape how a research centre operates, connects, and grows, both within Cambridge and internationally.
A market supplement may be applied for the ideal candidate.
Full-time (1.0 FTE; change to part-time and flexible working arrangements available)
Fixed term until 31 March 2030 (in the first instance)
