C&I Engineer

Location: Hemerdon Mine, Plymouth, Devon (PL7 5BS)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Pay: £21 + 15% shift allowance
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (5 on / 5 off / 4 on / 4 off)

Tungsten West is restarting the world-class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin Mine in South Devon and is seeking an EC&I Engineer to support maintenance, commissioning and plant reliability across the rebuild, ramp-up and production phases.

This is a hands-on technical role working on a modern mineral processing facility within a major UK mining operation.

** This role requires you to pass a Drug and Alcohol test on day one **

About the Role

You will support the reliability and performance of the processing plant by carrying out electrical, control and instrumentation maintenance, fault finding and commissioning support.

You will work closely with mechanical teams, operations and external contractors to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs.
  • Fault find on electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Work with PLCs, SCADA systems, VSDs and motor control systems.
  • Diagnose issues using P&IDs, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Perform calibration, testing, inspection and defect reporting.
  • Support safe isolation, permits to work and risk assessments.
  • Assist mechanical teams and external contractors.
  • Maintain site electrical systems including power, lighting and controls.

What We're Looking For Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation.
  • Minimum 5 years' industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong fault-finding skills in electrical and control systems.
  • Experience with 3-phase systems, motors, VSDs and DOL starters.
  • Understanding of safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Experience in mining, quarrying, manufacturing or heavy industry.

Desirable

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification.
  • Experience with PLC/SCADA systems in industrial environments.
