Full job description

Event Manager (Service Led)

Opportunities to join our Event Management team are incredibly rare, with this being our first opening in over 3 years.

Southend Barns is one of the South’s leading wedding venues, delivering exceptional weddings and events in a stunning countryside setting. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Event Manager to join our passionate team.

This is a service-led hospitality role, not a traditional wedding planner position.

We’re looking for someone from a wedding venue, outside catering company, hotel, restaurant or premium hospitality background who enjoys leading teams, maintaining exceptional standards and delivering memorable events.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in delivering weddings and events throughout the year, acting as the operational lead on the day and ensuring every event runs smoothly from start to finish.

Alongside wedding delivery, you’ll help manage and develop our front of house operation, including:

  • Recruitment, onboarding and training of front of house staff
  • Staff rotas and team management
  • Driving service standards across the business
  • Drinks, uniform and operational stock management
  • Wedding fairs, tastings and showcase events
  • Venue viewings and sales support
  • General operational organisation and administration

You’ll work closely with our planning team, allowing you to focus on operational excellence, team leadership and exceptional event delivery.

About You

You will have:

  • Experience leading teams within hospitality
  • Strong food and beverage knowledge
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • High standards and attention to detail
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience

Experience within a wedding venue, outside catering company, hotel, restaurant or similar hospitality environment would be highly advantageous.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • 28 days holiday
  • No split shifts
  • Additional paid time off during quieter winter periods
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Staff incentives and company events
  • A supportive and ambitious team culture
  • The opportunity to work at one of the South’s most respected wedding venues

Important Information

  • Own transport is essential due to our rural location
  • Five days per week on a rolling rota
  • Regular weekend working is required
  • Average Event Manager hours in 2025 were approximately 43 hours per week

Application Process

Please complete all Indeed screening questions when applying.

Applicants who do not respond to screening questions or Indeed messages may not be considered.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an initial interview followed by a paid trial shift.

If you thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment, enjoy leading teams from the front and want to play a key role in delivering exceptional weddings and events, we’d love to hear from you.
