Chefs Cut Butchery specialise in supplying high-quality meat products to Nottingham and Derby's best restaurants & pubs. We have also started to offer retail meat boxes to the general public, providing the same quality to them as we do head chefs.

Position overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Butchery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about meat, hygiene, possess strong attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. As a Butchery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our butchery department and contributing to the overall success of our business.
Shifts will likely be 12pm - 5pm, Monday-Friday, with Saturdays available as overtime. Your main role will be ensuring cleanliness throughout the entire production space, including pot washing, fridge cleaning, machine cleaning and ensuring PPE stores are stocked. You'll also:

* Assist in the preparation and portioning of various cuts of meat according to customer specification and company standards.

* Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout, including equipment, workstations, staff rooms & storage areas.

* Receive and inspect incoming deliveries, ensuring quality standards are met.

* Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering and stocktaking.

* Uphold food safety and hygiene protocols at all times. Adhering to FSA guidelines and industry regulation.

* Collaborate with colleagues to fulfil customer orders accurately & efficiently.

* Support the continuous improvement of butchery processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for efficiency & quality enhancement.

* Operate butchery equipment & machinery safely & effectively.

Qualifications & Skills:

* Previous experience working in a butchery or food handling environment is preferred but not essential. This role would benefit someone looking for their first job in the industry, a school leaver, or someone looking for shorter days.

* Strong knowledge of meat cuts, handling procedures, and food safety standards is ideal.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer focused approach.

* Ability to work effectively as part of our team & independently.

* Understanding the small things that make a difference to the service we offer to our customers.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
