Kitchen Porter – Live In - The Cottage Hotel

Pay: Minimum Wage

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: On-site

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our established kitchen crew. You will play a vital role in supporting our team of chefs by keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and well‑stocked. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in the hospitality industry. Shift patterns: Split shifts/ straight shifts according to rota.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils efficiently to support the cooking team.
  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients.
  • Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment to required standards.
  • Assist with stock rotation and inventory management to minimise waste.
  • Support chefs during busy service periods.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen is helpful but not essential.
  • Basic understanding of food preparation techniques.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
