About us

The Shambles is Windsor's award-winning, proudly independent café, restaurant, wine & cocktail bar and bottle shop. Set inside the wonderfully wonky Crooked House on the High Street, moments from Windsor Castle. We serve breakfast and lunch daily, with a small-plates menu in the evening — all built around seasonal produce and the kind of food we love to eat, designed to sit beautifully alongside our wines.

We're looking for a chef to take the reins of our kitchen: someone creative, reliable and produce-obsessed, who'd relish the chance to shape a menu of their own.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing and serving our breakfast, lunch and evening small-plates menus
  • Helping develop a seasonal, produce-led menu that pairs with our wine list
  • Running the kitchen day to day — prep, service, ordering, stock and suppliers
  • Keeping food hygiene, HACCP and allergen standards spot on
  • Managing food cost, GP and waste sensibly
  • Working closely with the front-of-house team and directors on specials and events catering

What we're looking for

  • Solid experience as a chef in similar
  • A love of fresh, seasonal produce and small-plates or brunch-style cooking
  • Minimum Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene, and confident with HACCP kitchen management and allergens
  • Creative, dependable and calm — happy working solo or leading a small team
  • An interest in wine and food pairing is a lovely bonus

What you'll get

  • Either £15 - £16 per hour depending on experience, or a salaried role for the right candidate 38-40k pa, 45 hours.
