Who Are Premier Foods Wholesale and What do we do ?

We are a leading fresh‑produce wholesaler based in New Covent Garden Market, supplying premium fresh, frozen, and prepared food to hospitality and foodservice businesses across the UK. We are recognised for our award‑winning service, fast‑paced operation, and seven‑day‑a‑week reliability, supporting restaurants, hotels, caterers, and major events nationwide. We operate at the heart of the fresh and frozen supply chain, where speed, precision, and commercial instinct are essential to success.

About the Role

As HR Advisor, you will act as a trusted partner to managers and employees across the business, providing expert HR guidance across the full employee lifecycle. You will play a key role in supporting our operational teams - including our night operation - ensuring our people practices are consistent, compliant, and effective. This is a hands-on, generalist role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HR advice and support to line managers on a wide range of employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance.
  • Support and coach managers to handle HR issues confidently and in line with company policy and employment legislation.
  • Support the end-to-end recruitment processes for operational and support roles.
  • Maintain and update HR records, ensuring accuracy and GDPR compliance at all times.
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support the delivery of learning and development initiatives, including inductions and management training.
  • Work closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of HR changes.
  • Monitor and analyse key HR metrics (e.g. absence, turnover) and provide regular reporting to the HR Manager.
  • Undertake occasional early starts to engage with, and provide support to, our night operation team.
  • Contribute to HR projects and change initiatives as required.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards), or equivalent HR experience.
  • Proven experience in a generalist HR Advisor or similar HR role.
  • Solid knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing employee relations cases end-to-end.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a varied and busy workload.
  • Comfortable working independently and using own initiative.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work early start shifts to support the night operation.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a wholesale, logistics, food manufacturing, or similarly fast-paced operational environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and HR reporting.
  • Experience supporting shift-based or 24/7 operations.
