Job Overview

We're looking for a proactive, energetic, and highly personable Duty Manager to be the operational lead and welcoming heartbeat of our brand-new Padel Club in Milton Keynes. This is a hands-on role where you'll oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional member and guest experiences, manage the front-of-house, and step in a cross bar, food, and court services to keep everything running seamlessly. You'll create a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere that blends high-energy padel action with great drinks, snacks, and social vibes helping build our community from day one.

Responsibilities

Guest Experience:

  • Act as the main point of contact, greeting members, guests, and visitors with warmth and professionalism.
  • Oversee check-ins for court bookings, tournaments, lessons, and social sessions; assist new players with orientation, rules, and equipment.
  • Provide accurate info on court availability, schedules, memberships, events, and club amenities.
  • Manage flow during busy periods, peak hours, tournaments, or events to ensure smooth transitions and minimal wait times.

Court & Facility Operations:

  • Supervise court bookings via our platform, handling reservations, confirmations, modifications, cancellations, and maximising utilisation.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to ensure courts, nets, seating, glass walls, and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and ready for play.
  • Identify and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly, coordinating fixes to maintain top standards.
  • Oversee general facility cleanliness, including entrance, reception, changing areas, and social spaces.

Bar, Food & Beverage Management:

  • Bar and café operations, including serving drinks, light food/snacks, and barista-prepared coffees with flair and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, responsible alcohol service, food hygiene standards, and health & safety regulations.
  • Manage stock levels for beverages, ingredients, and consumables; handle reordering and basic inventory to avoid shortages.
  • Train and supervise casual/bar staff on service standards, POS systems, and upselling opportunities.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and inviting bar/counter area at all times, including setup, restocking, and end-of-shift close-downs.

Administrative & Support Duties:

  • Monitor and respond to club emails, enquiries, and messages in a timely, friendly manner.
  • Assist with member sign-ups, renewals, account updates, and general queries.
  • Support event preparation and delivery; tournaments, social mixers, leagues, corporate bookings, including setup, check-ins, signage, refreshments, and post-event tidy-up.
  • Help manage merchandise sales (rackets, balls, apparel, accessories), keeping displays appealing and tracking stock.

Team & Safety Oversight:

  • Supervise front-of-house, bar, and casual staff during shifts; provide guidance, motivation, and feedback.
  • Ensure all operations comply with health & safety, including first-aid readiness and incident reporting.

Your Skills

You're a great fit if you:

  • Have solid experience in a customer-facing role, ideally with bartender, barista, and food service background (e.g., in a bar, café, restaurant, sports club, or leisure venue).
  • Previous supervisory or shift-lead experience in hospitality, retail, or club environments is essential.
  • Are energetic, outgoing, and passionate about creating positive, community-driven experiences.
  • Excel at multitasking in a fast-paced setting with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Are comfortable with booking systems, POS software, email tools, and basic inventory management.
  • Have a keen eye for detail, high standards for cleanliness/presentation, and a proactive approach to maintenance and safety.
  • Thrive as a team player in a dynamic, member-focused environment.
  • Are flexible with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Our Mission & Values:

  • Community First – Inclusivity and belonging for everyone.
  • Positive Energy – Enthusiasm and optimism in everything we do.
  • Lifestyle Focused – Great padel paired with quality drinks, food, and social vibes.
  • Quality Without Compromise – Professionalism, high standards, and attention to detail.
  • Growth-Minded – We're a new club growing fast—learning, improving, and innovating together.

Why join us?

As a Duty Manager, you'll help shape the culture and energy of our brand-new club from the ground up. You'll be part of a team, drive memorable experiences for members and guests, and be part of launching something exciting in the fast-growing world of padel. In return, you'll enjoy a supportive environment, opportunities to grow with the business, and the chance to play padel as part of the perks!
