Front of House & Events Manager

Salary: £30,000–£34,000 per year (DOE)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

About the Role

Welwyn Garden City Golf Club is looking for a hands-on Front of House & Events Manager to lead our day-to-day front of house operation.

This is a practical, customer-facing role where you'll work alongside the team behind the bar and on the floor while leading by example. You'll manage our bar, restaurant and casual hospitality teams, oversee events and functions, and ensure consistently high standards of service throughout the clubhouse.

Working closely with the General Manager and Managing Chef, you'll play a key role in developing the hospitality offering, supporting operational improvements, and embedding best practice across the team.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) and will include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

  • Manage the daily front of house and bar operation.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the clubhouse.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train and motivate the front of house team.
  • Prepare staff rotas and manage staffing levels.
  • Monitor performance and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a positive, professional and customer-focused culture.

Events & Functions

  • Coordinate front of house delivery for golf societies, private events and club functions.
  • Liaise with organisers to ensure events run smoothly.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver excellent service.

Stock & Administration

  • Manage ordering, stock control and supplier relationships.
  • Carry out regular stocktakes and minimise wastage.
  • Support monthly operational reviews with the management team.

Service Standards

  • Deliver consistently high levels of customer service.
  • Support the club's partnership with 59club to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements where required.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, food hygiene, health & safety and company policies.

About You

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar hospitality management role.
  • Strong front of house and bar management experience.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication abilities.
  • Confident problem solver with excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a golf club or private members' club.
  • Personal Licence holder.
  • Food Hygiene and/or Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Cellar management experience.
