Catering Assistant


Catering Assistant

Location: Moorside High School, Salford
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.45am-2.45pm

About the Role

We're looking for a Catering Assistant to join our team at Moorside High School. Supporting the Catering Manager, you'll help prepare and serve meals for pupils, staff and visitors, providing a friendly and efficient service.

You'll assist with basic food preparation, keep kitchen and dining areas clean, and follow food safety procedures to help lunchtime service run smoothly.

You'll be supporting a secondary school through the delivery of a safe, welcoming and well-maintained catering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation and the preparation of meals and beverages.
  • Set up dining and service areas, serve food and help clear away after service.
  • Clean kitchen and dining areas, equipment, crockery and utensils in line with cleaning schedules.
  • Follow food hygiene, allergen management and health and safety procedures, recording food temperatures as required.
  • Support safe storage and stock rotation, replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Operate tills when required and provide a friendly, helpful service to pupils, staff and visitors.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a catering environment.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, safe working practices and COSHH.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • A reliable, organised approach and the ability to follow instructions.
  • The ability to work independently and contribute to a busy team.

A food hygiene certificate, a relevant catering qualification or experience within a school kitchen would further support your application.
