Kitchen Assistant

PT 16 Hours per week (Approx)

The Company

The Old Pottery Restaurant is set in the heart of House of Marbles; although known for toys, games, and gifts, we take our restaurant seriously. We would like to think the licenced restaurant has a following of its own. We pride ourselves on freshly prepared food, with produce sourced locally and seasonally wherever possible.

The Job

We are looking for a friendly and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our busy restaurant team, working 2-3 days per week, with the opportunity for extra hours during busy periods and holiday cover.

This role involves supporting our chefs with food preparation, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and helping ensure the kitchen runs smoothly during service. Previous kitchen or cooking experience would be beneficial; however, if you have a passion for food, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn, full training can be provided.

Working Pattern

We are a seven-day-a-week operation, offering a varied working environment. Our team works on a rota basis, with schedules planned in advance to help everyone organise their time. As hours vary depending on business needs, we're looking for someone who can offer flexibility, with shifts confirmed through our advance rota system. Shifts may be scheduled across Monday to Sunday, typically between 8:30am and 5:30pm. We also host occasional evening events, usually around once a month, with shifts potentially finishing as late as 11pm.

Key Responsibilities & Skills

  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Support chefs and the wider kitchen team during busy service periods, working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Help with opening and closing kitchen duties, ensuring work areas remain clean, organised, and ready for service.
